Westbrook notches 35th triple-double without missing a shot

Oscar Robertson's lead over Russell Westbrook for the most triple-doubles in a single season continues to dwindle.

The Oklahoma City Thunder All-Star picked up his 35th triple-double of the 2016-17 campaign Wednesday against the Philadelphia 76ers at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

In 27 minutes, Westbrook scored 18 points, grabbed 11 rebounds, and dished out 14 assists on a perfect 6-of-6 shooting from the field and 6-of-6 from the free-throw line in a 122-97 victory for the Thunder.

He becomes the first player to record a triple-double without missing a shot from the field or the charity stripe, according to Elias Sports.

Robertson's mark of 41 set in 1961-62 as a member of the Cincinnati Royals still holds strong, with Westbrook needing six over Oklahoma City's remaining 11 games to tie The Big O.

The 28-year-old now has 72 triple-doubles for his career, which is the fifth-most in league history. Westbrook needs just six more to tie Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlain for the fourth-most ever.

Entering Wednesday's matchup, Westbrook was averaging 31.4 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 10.3 assists for the 40-30 Thunder.
