Westbrook knocks All-Defensive team, makes case for Roberson
Russell Westbrook was asked Tuesday about Andre Roberson's chances at NBA All-Defensive team consideration, and the master of triple-doubles praised his Oklahoma City Thunder teammate for his work over the season's first month.
"Guys they put on the (All) Defensive team, they give it to them before the damn season starts and guys don't play defense, honestly," Westbrook said in a video from NewsOK's Erik Horne. "He actually locks up and defends and people can't score - it's actually one-on-one defense. That's what it is, I don't care about all the defensive numbers all that other shit - I don't know, percentages, winning the game - that doesn't matter"
"When you're on the court and you see the things he does defensively and people that actually watch the games and understand what it means to actually guard somebody, then they can see what All-Defensive team is."
Roberson only received one second-place vote for the All-Defensive team last season.
As Horne noted, Houston's James Harden had his lowest scoring game of the season (13 points on 4-of-16 shooting) with Roberson as his primary defender earlier this month.
