Lauren Holiday undergoes surgery to remove benign brain tumor
Lauren Holiday, former U.S. women's soccer team member and the wife of New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday, underwent successful surgery Thursday to remove a benign brain tumor, John Reid of the Times-Picayune reports.
Lauren was pregnant at the time the tumor was discovered, and to avoid the risk of any complications, doctors opted to wait until the baby was delivered before operating. She gave birth to a healthy girl last month.
Jrue has been away from the Pelicans on an indefinite leave of absence since his wife's diagnosis, and it remains unclear when he'll return. General manager Dell Demps told reporters at Media Day a month ago that Jrue had no timetable and the team would welcome him back with "open arms" whenever he felt ready to come back.
