Report: Heat likely won't waive Bosh until March
It could be a while before Chris Bosh is no longer a member of the Miami Heat.
While Pat Riley has already stated the Bosh's career in Miami is "probably over," the Heat will likely wait until March 1 to waive him, ensuring he's not eligible to appear in the postseason, sources tell ESPN's Zach Lowe.
Although waiving Bosh would free up cap space next summer, the Heat could still face financial problems going forward. Should the 32-year-old play at least 25 games in 2017-18, Bosh's salary would reappear atop Miami's cap number, potentially pushing the Heat well over the luxury-tax line.
Bosh has publicly stated that he's going to do "everything it takes" to play basketball again, and would almost certainly be willing to sign with an NBA team if Miami set him free.
The 6-foot-11 power forward has yet to play a game since mid-February after blood clots ended his season for the second straight year.
