Kristaps Porzingis is leaving Nike for greener pastures.
The New York Knicks power forward inked a multi-year contract with Adidas on Wednesday, which is the largest shoe deal by a European player in NBA history, according to The Vertical's Nick DePaula.
After making just $25,000 with Nike last season, Porzingis is reportedly set to make between $3 million-$6 million with Adidas on his new contract. Porzingis signed a one-year deal with Nike last season, making him a shoe free agent Oct. 5.
"All I can say is both Nike and Adidas are first-class companies," Porzingis said. "I would be lucky to align myself with either one. The amount of attention I received was flattering, but right now I am letting my agents handle the business side of things."
Under Armour and several Chinese-based companies also expressed interest in Porzingis, according to his agent, Andy Miller.
Nike has until mid-October to match, but are not expected to retain Porzingis as a client.
Porzingis averaged 14.3 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.9 blocks during his rookie season, while ranking fourth in NBA jersey sales.
