Anderson Varejao, who just re-signed with the Golden State Warriors on a one-year deal at the veteran's minimum, has left Brazil for the U.S. in order to have a back issue examined, according to the Bay Area News Group's Diamond Leung.
The situation may endanger Varejao's plans to play for his native country when they host next month's Olympics.
Varejao, 33, was spotted carrying the Olympic torch in Brazil this weekend.
The veteran big man's 2015-16 contributions to the Warriors were minimal after signing midseason. He played in 22 regular-season and 17 playoff games, averaging a combined 1.9 points and 1.8 rebounds.
