Report: LeBron informs Cavs he will re-sign
The possibility of LeBron James playing for anyone other than the Cleveland Cavaliers next season is somewhere between none and none, and he has now informed the team as much, according to sources of ESPN's Brian Windhorst.
It was reported last week that James had yet to notify the Cavs of his timetable to re-sign, and that still appears to be the case, according to Windhorst. James announced his intention to return to Cleveland on the day of the team's NBA championship parade, but is evidently taking his time in making it official. The languidness is reportedly not related to J.R. Smith's outstanding contract status.
James and Smith share the same agent, Cleveland-based Rich Paul.
When James does commit, he is expected to sign another "one-and-one" contract - one year, plus the option - in order to reap the next salary cap windfall in 2017. However, because of a cap quirk, doing so could cost him about $3 million less than market value.
