The 19-year-old's choice of the swoosh may come as a surprise to some, after reports indicated last month that an offer from Adidas was larger - $10 million over five years. However, Simmons' agent Rich Paul features a stable of clientele that is almost exclusively Nike - including LeBron James.
Simmons is expected to go first overall to the Philadelphia 76ers on June 23, and is unlikely to drop below the Los Angeles Lakers at the No. 2 spot.
