Report: Simmons won't sign shoe deal until after draft lottery
LSU's Ben Simmons, who's projected to be one of the first two players selected in this year's NBA Draft, is biding his time before deciding which shoe brand he's going to sign on with.
Simmons, along with his agent Rich Paul, will wait until after the draft lottery on Tuesday before reaching a decision, according to The Vertical's Nick DePaula.
The two reportedly hope that the Los Angeles Lakers will keep their top-three protected lottery pick and use it to draft Simmons. A lot of money could be coming Simmons' way if that becomes a reality.
The 19-year-old Aussie reportedly has five-year deals on the table from both Adidas and Nike. The offer from Adidas is slightly larger at $10 million with a $1-million bonus should he be named NBA Rookie of the Year, while Nike currently sits at $7.5 million with fewer performance incentives than its competition.
Simmons' camp believes that if the Lakers select him, Nike will be more inclined to bump up their price because of the opportunities that come with a larger market.
Los Angeles has a 19.9 percent chance of securing the first overall pick after finishing the 2015-16 season with the worst record in franchise history at 17-65.
