- Fabricio Werdum will attempt to prove that his one-sided shellacking of Cain Velasquez at UFC 188 wasn't an elevation-assisted fluke when the two square off in early 2016. According to both Werdum and Velasquez, the bout will likely take place at a Brazilian soccer stadium in March.
- After years of sitcom levels of "will they, won't they," venomous heavyweight strikers Alistair Overeem and Junior dos Santos will finally unleash ultraviolence at UFC on FOX 17 in December.
- Firmly entrenched in the upper echelon of the division, Stipe Miocic will make his case for a title shot when he faces possible human-grizzly bear hybrid Ben Rothwell in late October. With consecutive stoppage victories over Brandon Vera, Overeem and Matt Mitrione, Rothwell is a surprising contender heading into 2016.
- After serving a suspension while being under an investigation for alleged domestic violence, Travis Browne finally returns to the cage in January when he faces off with Mitrione.
