- Joanna Jedrzejczyk faces the toughest test of her career on Jan. 2 when she defends her strawweight title against Claudia Gadelha at UFC 195. Gadelha, who dropped a controversial, razor-thin split-decision to Jedrzejczyk at UFC on FOX 13 last December, earned another crack at the Polish buzzsaw with a dominant win over former WSOF champion Jessica Aguilar at UFC 190.
- With a perfect 3-0 record inside the Octagon, Valerie Letourneau burst into the top 10 with a dominant performance against Maryna Moroz at UFC Fight Night 74 in August. Earmarked as a future contender at 115 pounds, Moroz was completely overwhelmed by Letourneau, who could find herself in the title picture at some point in early 2016.
- Tecia Torres will look to continue her steady climb up the strawweight mountain when she meets Michelle Waterson at UFC 194 in December. Nicknamed "The Karate Hottie," Waterson made a successful UFC debut in July, submitting Angela Magana via rear-naked choke at the Ultimate Fighter 21 Finale.
- After a listless, uninspired performance against Moroz at UFC Fight Night 64, Joanne Calderwood bounced back three months later with a unanimous decision victory over unheralded newcomer Cortney Casey.
