Werdum: 'I want to fight on the Aldo vs. McGregor card'
Fabricio Werdum is a well adjusted human being who truly knows the value of money. He also has a healthy enough ego to realize he's not the biggest draw in the UFC.
Knowing the sheer enormity of the upcoming featherweight title clash between kingpin Jose Aldo and pretender to the throne, Conor McGregor, the UFC heavyweight champion is more than willing to ride shotgun in the co-main event slot on what is expected to be one of the biggest pay-per-view cards in the promotion's history.
"I want to fight on the Aldo versus McGregor card," Werdum told the media Thursday, according to MMAFighting.com's Guilherme Cruz. "Fans want to watch this fight, so I'm willing to fight there."
"Vai Cavalo" isn't trying to denigrate the importance of the heavyweight division, but admits Aldo-McGregor is going to draw a lot more eyeballs than another bout with Cain Velasquez.
"For sure, I would be down to fight in the co-main event," Werdum said. "There's a lot of expectation for this fight between Conor McGregor and Jose Aldo, it will get a lot of attention. Heavyweights are important, of course, but a fight like this will draw more attention than a rematch with Cain Velasquez, for an example."
