Renato Moicano is nearing the end of his UFC career - and he has a plan for what could come next.
The veteran lightweight suffered a TKO loss to Tom Nolan in this past weekend's UFC Fight Night main event in Las Vegas. He said Monday on "The Ariel Helwani Show" that he wants to fight out his contract - which has three fights remaining - and then explore opportunities in influencer boxing.
"I want to finish my contract," Moicano said. "And once I finish my contract, I don't want to fight MMA anymore. I want to do boxing, like influencer boxing. I want to beat up people that don't know how to fight - like this Adin Ross show. ... If they pay me a f-----g half a million dollars, a million dollars to box, I would."
The 37-year-old Brazilian has been in the UFC since 2014 and has fought 21 times in the promotion, producing a 13-8 record and earning a ranking at both featherweight and lightweight.
Moicano said that since Father Time will catch up to him sooner than later, he'd rather walk away from MMA on his own terms.
"I don't want to be like Tony Ferguson," Moicano said. "Eight fights, trying to be a champion. Forty years old, trying to fight, six-fight losing streak - I don't want to do that. I'm happy. And sometimes, you have to realize when you're done. You have to realize how much gas tank you have, how much love of the sport you have. And for me, it's these three more fights."
He added: "I think after these three, I'm done, because they're not gonna pay me enough. ... If the deal is good for me, it's OK, but I don't think it will happen."
