Nick Diaz on Reebok deal: 'It’s nice to have something that’s not just an MMA brand'
Nick Diaz isn't joining the legion of MMA fighters on the Reebok hate train.
Unlike his younger brother, Nate, who publicly blasted the UFC's decision to enter into an exclusive partnership with the apparel company, Nick has been too focused on his upcoming bout with Anderson Silva to worry about what logo is emblazoned on his shorts.
“Honestly, I don’t know too much about it,” he said during a conference call, according to Sherdog.com's Tristen Critchfield. “By the time all that stuff was going on, I was just focused on my training. One way or another, win or lose, it’s not gonna make a big difference to me what happens. I’m not the one that takes care of it.”
The deal will require all fighters and their cornermen to wear Reebok apparel to fights and UFC events. It's a drastic change for athletes used to plastering themselves in sponsorship logos like a bunch of living, breathing NASCARs.
"I like Reebok. It's nice, the way it looks. It could be worse," Diaz said. "It's nice to have something that’s not just an MMA brand, you know. Some of them are nice, but some of them … it's just a lot of different new MMA brands. They come, they go."
