- The best Strawweight in the world doesn't fight under the Zuffa umbrella, which isn't surprising when you consider how new the division is to the UFC. World Series of Fighting champion Jessica Aguilar hasn't tasted defeat in more than four years, and owns a pair of victories over all-time great Megumi Fuji.
- Carla Esparza won season 20 of "The Ultimate Fighter" and was crowned the UFC's first Stawweight champion during the show's finale. The "Cookie Monster" owns a 10-2 record, with her only losses coming to the aforementioned Aguilar and Fuji. Esparza's first title defense will likely be against Joanna Jedrzejczyk at some point in the first quarter of 2015.
