Gina Carano (7-1-0) hasn't fought in five years after leaving mixed martial arts for a career in Hollywood, but don't count out a comeback just yet. The former Strikeforce women's featherweight champ told FOX Sports' Damon Martin that she'd be interested in returning to the sport under the right circumstances, calling it "her first love."
Rumors of her returning to fight UFC women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey have run rampant since commentator Joe Rogan claimed the UFC was about to make "a huge announcement" in regards to the women's division, with Rousey saying she'd be willing to move up in weight just to fight Carano.
"I don't mind [the rumors] at all. I've never retired. I've never officially said that," Carano said. "For some reason a part of me has always kept it open. I don't know, there's a certain part of me that thinks if circumstances were right, and I could keep doing what I'm trying to make my future into, that's an ideal world. If circumstances were right, you never know. I'm very open to it."
If she were to return, Carano would already be signed to the UFC, as her contract — which still has four fights on it — was transferred when Zuffa purchased Strikeforce in 2011.
Carano is currently promoting "In the Blood," an action film which opens April 4.
