Moreno-Almabayev to headline Feb. 28 Fight Night card in Mexico
The UFC announced that a flyweight bout between Brandon Moreno and Asu Almabayev will headline the promotion's Feb. 28 event at Arena CDMX in Mexico City.
Moreno (23-9-2) is looking for a quick rebound after suffering a second-round TKO to Tatsuro Taira at UFC 323 on Dec. 6. The two-time flyweight champion quickly protested the stoppage that halted his win streak at two fights.
"The Assassin Baby" earned unanimous decision victories over Amir Albazi and also defeated Steve Erceg via decision in the main event on the March 29 card in Mexico City.
Almabayev (23-3) has won 19 of his past 20 fights and is 6-1 in the UFC, with his lone blemish being a loss to Manel Kape on March 1. The 31-year-old will step into the Octagon on a two-fight win streak that includes victories over Jose Ochoa and the submission of former title contender Alex Perez on Nov. 22.
