Chandler: I'll end McGregor's career

UFC star Michael Chandler is confident he can effectively end Conor McGregor's storied MMA career when they face off on June 29.

"I think I'll be the last (person McGregor fights)," Chandler told ESPN's Brett Okamoto. "He's lost fights, but we haven't really seen him be dominated. … I think I dominate him in a fashion that he can keep trying to come back, but he will have lost the fans' interest so much more after I do what I'm going to do to him."

"There will be an extra hint of satisfaction ending this guy's career," Chandler added.

On New Year's Eve, McGregor announced his return to the Octagon would come in a middleweight bout against Chandler at International Fight Week on June 29 in Las Vegas.

The UFC hasn't confirmed the proposed middleweight bout for International Fight Week, which typically takes place in early July. The Irishman's announcement arrived a few months after the UFC clashed with the United States Anti-Doping Agency over McGregor's status. The promotion is now aligned with Drug Free Sport International.

Chandler is "100%" convinced that he'll finally go toe-to-toe with McGregor on June 29 and said making 185 pounds will be "easy and fun."

"I don't give a rip about what the weight is," he said.

"Conor's skill set, I don't think it's where it used to be," Chandler added. "I don't think Conor is as scary as he used to be."

McGregor has been out of action since breaking his leg in July 2021 against Dustin Poirier in a trilogy fight. His previous two bouts took place at 155 pounds. Chandler's last fight was a loss to Poirier in 2022.

Chandler maintains that he has plenty of gas left in the tank even after his headlining fight with McGregor, which he hopes is a title shot. The 37-year-old also said he's got an idea of how the fight will unfold on June 29.

"I've got a sneaky suspicion I knock this dude out within the first two rounds," Chandler said.
