A pivotal 155-pound fight between Mateusz Gamrot and former champion Rafael dos Anjos will take place at UFC 299, the promotion announced Tuesday.

The event is scheduled for March 9, sources told MMA Fighting's Damon Martin.

Gamrot is coming off two straight wins this year. The Polish fighter finished fellow top contender Rafael Fiziev - who suffered a leg injury in the bout - in a UFC Fight Night main event in September, and Gamrot edged Jalin Turner by split decision in March. The 33-year-old is 6-1 in his last seven Octagon appearances and ranked No. 6 in the lightweight division.

Dos Anjos returns to the weight class after two fights at 170 pounds, where he beat Bryan Barberena and then lost to Vicente Luque in a main event this past summer. The 39-year-old Brazilian has bounced between lightweight and welterweight in the last six years. Most recently at 155 pounds, he suffered a knockout loss to Fiziev in July 2022. Dos Anjos is ranked No. 11 in that division.

UFC 299 will be headlined by a bantamweight title rematch between champion Sean O'Malley and Marlon "Chito" Vera. The promotion has yet to announce a location for the card.
