UFC star Conor McGregor underwent surgery for three hours Sunday as doctors repaired the fractured tibia and fibula in his left leg, his management team announced.
McGregor suffered the injuries during his UFC 264 loss to Dustin Poirier, a fight he dropped due to a doctor's stoppage at the end of the first round.
"We anticipate his return to the Octagon," the end of the announcement reads.
McGregor tweeted he'll be on crutches for about six weeks. It's unclear how long the former lightweight and featherweight champion could be out before he's ready to return to competition.

The ever-popular McGregor lost to Poirier on Saturday for the second straight time, giving "The Diamond" a 2-1 edge in their head-to-head series. McGregor knocked out Poirier during their first encounter in 2014.
During his post-event press conference, UFC president Dana White appeared open to the idea of a fourth matchup between McGregor and Poirier.
