Lightweight contender Justin Gaethje was thrilled that Conor McGregor suffered his first career TKO loss to Dustin Poirier in last weekend's UFC 257 main event.
"I love seeing a loudmouth get knocked out," Gaethje told ESPN's Brett Okamoto. "There's nothing that makes me happier. Seeing a piece of shit get put down - that was great. I loved it."
McGregor's head coach said earlier this week that the former two-division champion wants an immediate trilogy bout against Poirier for the vacant lightweight title. But Gaethje thinks it would be "preposterous" if McGregor gets a crack at UFC gold coming off his second loss in three fights.
"He's sitting at No. 6 (in the division)," Gaethje said. "He's won one fight in his entire life in the (UFC) lightweight division. And he picks and chooses who he fights. So I have no respect for him in that manner."
Gaethje, a former interim champ, is coming off a submission loss to reigning titleholder Khabib Nurmagomedov last October.
