Jedrzejczyk to undergo surgery after UFC 248 battle
Joanna Jedrzejczyk says she'll undergo ear surgery on Monday following her brutal war with strawweight champion Zhang Weili at UFC 248 last weekend in Las Vegas.
"Now I have a very bad ear," Jedrzejczyk told TMZ Sports. "There's lots of blood in my ear. They drained it at the ER. But I scheduled surgery in Poland with the best plastic surgeon, so it’s all good. On Monday, I’ll have a small medical procedure on my ear and the swelling will go down and I will be ready to rock and roll."
The former UFC titleholder suffered a massive hematoma on her forehead during Saturday's fight, which she lost by split decision. Jedrzejczyk said the swelling on her forehead has since decreased, but it's moved lower down on her face.
"Honestly, I couldn't see for two days," she said, adding that her "whole face is bruised."
"There’s no more swelling on my head. It’s more on my face, and like my neck," she continued. "It’s going down, so it’s much better."
Zhang-Jedrzejczyk was arguably the greatest women's fight ever, and one of the best bouts in MMA history. Zhang defended the belt for the first time, while Jedrzejczyk dropped to 2-2 in her past four contests.
