There's apparently no truth to 50 Cent's claim that he sold his "Get the Strap" catchphrase to Bellator.
The rapper and businessman - real name Curtis Jackson - announced Tuesday on Instagram that the Viacom-owned Bellator purchased the trademarked phrase for $1 million and planned to use it on the MMA promotion's apparel.
A Bellator spokesman told Justin Ivey of HipHopDX.com that Jackson's post "isn't true," but he did confirm the rapper met with executives from the promotion, as well as Viacom representatives.
Jackson sparked rumors of a potential deal with Bellator in May after tweeting a photo of himself meeting with president Scott Coker. The two also sat together at Bellator 199, with Coker describing Jackson afterward as "a friend of the family."
