Donald Cerrone is returning to his original weight class at 155 pounds.
Cerrone has spent the last two years at welterweight, where he has lost his last three fights. He joined "The Fighter and The Kid" podcast recently and revealed he will be dropping back down to lightweight, where he fought 35 of his first 36 career bouts.
The longtime UFC veteran predicts he can fight for five more years and will be better suited to last at the lower weight.
"I’m going back to 155," said Cerrone. "I'm only 175, I've been waking up at 175 everyday so it's like pffft, I'm fine.
"I'm more focused. At 170, I can just not train and f--- off. I put more into it at 155 so let's do it, let's have a couple more fights. I probably won't take 20 a year anymore. I'm probably gonna take it down a little bit.”
Cerrone, who has a 27-7 record at lightweight, hasn't actually fought 20 times per year, but he has competed three times in 2017 and four times each year from 2013 to 2016. With a career mark of 32-10 plus a no contest on his record, Cerrone has been one of the most active fighters during his eight years in the UFC.
