The main event between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor was delayed Saturday night in Las Vegas by alm30 minutes due to pay-per-view outages, Showtime confirmed in a statement to ESPN's Dan Rafael.
Due to high demand, we have reports of scattered outages from various cable and satellite provides and the online offering. We will delay the start of the main event slightly to allow for systems to get on track. We do not expect a lengthy delay.
Originally, it was reported that Mayweather and McGregor were not going to walk to the ring before 11:15 p.m. ET, but that time wasn't made due to the length of the undercard. The fight was to have begun at 11:45 p.m.
It's not known how many PPV buyers were affected by the problems.
Similar issues delayed Mayweather's 2015 bout with Manny Pacquiao, which also had overwhelming demand.
