Conor McGregor plans to fight again after suffering an injury in his comeback bout at UFC 329.

McGregor hurt his right knee in the opening moments of his welterweight bout against Max Holloway and conceded a TKO loss at the 69-second mark of the first round Saturday in Las Vegas.

The former two-division champion said early Sunday morning on X that he will be back in the Octagon when he is healthy again.

"I will overcome this," McGregor wrote. "I will not be deterred. I will return."

McGregor ended a five-year layoff against Holloway, the longest of his career. The 37-year-old Irishman hadn't fought since breaking his left leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier in July 2021.

McGregor reiterated that he was stunned by what transpired, after saying in an earlier post that he didn't have a pre-existing injury entering the UFC 329 main event.

"I was so sharp and so ready for this fight, I cannot believe what has happened," McGregor wrote. "The talk of me being off while walking in to the fight is nonsense. I was calm, ready, and confident. I am in shock (at) what has taken place.

"The devil is literally staring at me right in front of my face here. I am not engaging. I will be at church tomorrow."

UFC CEO Dana White said Saturday that doctors believe McGregor tore his ACL, though the extent of the injury hasn't been confirmed yet.
