Report: 'Korean Zombie' to fight Bermudez at UFC Houston
After a three-year hiatus, Chan Sung Jung is back.
"The Korean Zombie" will look to jump right into the thick of the featherweight title picture when he takes on No. 8-ranked Dennis Bermudez in the main event of a UFC Fight Night card in Houston on Feb. 4, according to a report from MMA Fighting's Ariel Helwani citing multiple sources.
Since a failed bid to wrest the 145-pound championship from Jose Aldo in August 2013, Jung has been out of action due to two years of mandatory military service in his native South Korea in addition to needing time to recover from a pair of shoulder surgeries.
The 29-year-old Jung became a fan favorite in his time with World Extreme Cagefighting and the UFC, with memorable performances against Leonard Garcia, Dustin Poirier, and Mark Hominick. He owns a 3-1 record inside the Octagon.
Bermudez is currently riding a two-fight win streak having recently taken unanimous decisions over Rony Jason and Tatsuya Kawajiri. His UFC record stands at 9-3.
