Goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell is set to compete for a spot between the sticks at Avaya Stadium.
The San Jose Earthquakes selected the Clemson University shot-stopper eighth overall in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, bringing on a goalkeeper who has enjoyed four respectable seasons in the NSCAA.

Tarbell, a member of the 2016 Generation Adidas class, comes with the added bonus of not counting against the salary cap, but the 6-foot-3 'keeper is also ready to fight for a starting role. He recorded nine clean sheets in 24 games last season with Clemson, conceding 22 goals in that spell.
