In a year where attacking talent is sparse, the Portland Timbers have hedged their bets on Syracuse forward Ben Polk.
The Timbers selected Polk 20th overall in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft, bringing on the in-form forward to help find the back of the net in the upcoming regular season.
Polk, who was 17th in the nation in goals scored, and first in points overall at Syracuse last season, is a versatile forward who can also play out wide. He scored 12 goals and recorded four assists in his 23 games last season with Syracuse, a respectable tally for the 23-year-old.
