Werder Bremen CEO likens U.S. forward Jordan Morris to hockey player
U.S. international standout Jordan Morris is turning heads during his training stint in Germany, with Werder Bremen CEO Thomas Eichin particularly pleased with the former Stanford University man.
Morris, who left school to pursue a career in professional soccer, is currently with Bremen as he assesses his club options. And Eichin, who was once the general manager of German hockey team Kolner Haie, says he sees something rather unique in Morris.
"He does a few things, you usually rarely see," Eichin told reporters. "He has his sights set on the goal at all time, does not think about it too much, and he reminds me of my time in ice hockey.
"He's a typical American lad, always positive."
Should Morris choose to pursue a career in Europe, he'll need to wait for Bremen to open negotiations with the Seattle Sounders in MLS. The Sounders currently own his playing rights, but Eichin isn't letting that deter talk of a move.
"We have to check a few things first, it's about compensation," Eichin said. "This could be a creative transfer."
