Bobby Boswell suspended for 1st leg of semifinal vs. Red Bulls
D.C. United will be without veteran central defender Bobby Boswell for the Eastern Conference semifinals in the MLS Cup after he was suspended for one game by the league's disciplinary committee Friday for "endangering the safety of an opponent."
Boswell was suspended due to an infraction against New England Revolution forward Juan Agudelo in the 69th minute of play on Wednesday night, which referee Mark Geiger only awarded a yellow card for.
The incident was not captured on the game's broadcast, but in-stadium cameras appeared to show Boswell kicking out at Agudelo, who went down injured and was forced to leave the match afterward.
As such, Boswell will be unavailable for the first leg of his side's playoff test against the New York Red Bulls on Sunday night.
