Frank Lampard returns from injury, included in starting lineup vs. Columbus
Former Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard is finally fit enough to start for his new club, New York City FC, as his side hosts the Columbus Crew at Yankee Stadium on Saturday.
Lampard has been dealing with a quad injury since joining the team in July. He's missed out on a number of New York's games in the summer, playing just 107 minutes in the season so far.
However, the 37-year-old central midfielder was named into Jason Kreis' starting lineup and will play alongside Italian maestro Andrea Pirlo as well as Spanish striker David Villa. New York's Designated Player trio is united, fit, and ready to fight at long last.
New York will need Lampard: The club currently sits one spot out of the playoffs in the Eastern Conference, tied on points with the Montreal Impact and Orlando City.
