New England Revolution head coach Jay Heaps has reportedly signed a contract extension that will keep him at the helm of the Revs through at least the 2017 season, reports the Boston Globe's Frank Dell'Apa.

Club policy prohibits public announcements of contract signings for coaches, according to the Boston Globe, who report that the Revolution would not comment on Heaps' contract extension.

Heaps, 39, took over from Steve Nicol in 2012, and led the Revs to a 16th-place finish with only 35 points. In his second year as the club's head coach, Heaps took the Revolution all the way to the MLS Cup final.

Assistant coaches Remi Roy and Tom Soehn also reportedly signed contract extensions, and, like Heaps, terms weren't made public.
