Messi, Argentina erase 2-0 deficit to beat Egypt in epic comeback

You can never count Lionel Messi and Argentina out.

Messi provided a goal and an assist in a four-minute span in the second half, and Enzo Fernandez scored the game-winner in the 92nd minute, to help Argentina overcome a 2-0 deficit and claim a dramatic 3-2 victory over Egypt in Atlanta on Tuesday.

Messi missed a penalty in the first half but found the net in the 83rd minute for his eighth goal at the 2026 World Cup. Argentina will now play the winner of Switzerland-Colombia in the quarterfinals.
