Reigning MLS Cup champions Toronto FC are out of playoff contention after falling to the Vancouver Whitecaps in a subdued atmosphere at BMO Field Saturday.

An unmarked Kei Kamara tapped in from six yards after 78 minutes of action to complete a 2-1 win for the visitors and effectively end a dire regular season for Toronto FC with three matches left to play.

Russell Teibert opened the scoring just four minutes into the encounter when he ran into a huge gap in the Reds' rearguard before finding the bottom corner. Jozy Altidore's 73rd-minute penalty gave TFC brief hopes of a comeback despite his conversion coming in the wake of Gregory van der Wiel's second bookable offense.

The Whitecaps kept their scant postseason hopes alive with the victory despite the recent upheaval at the club. Craig Dalrymple was interim head coach for the second match after overseeing last week's damaging 3-0 loss at playoff rivals LA Galaxy following the sacking of Carl Robinson. Vancouver concludes the regular campaign with games against Sporting Kansas City, Los Angeles FC, and the Portland Timbers.
