It's official.

The 2020 Major League Soccer expansion side headed by former England international David Beckham will officially be known as Club Internacional de Futbol Miami - or Inter Miami for short.

Miami's team logo and name were first leaked in mid-August, as the pink emblem and accompanying herons crossed in an "M" attracted a host of positive feedback.

Beckham, who had a five-year stint with Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy beginning in 2007, has been negotiating to own an expansion side in the league since shortly after retiring from his professional career in 2013. He finally achieved his goal in January, when the league announced it had officially granted Miami an expansion side to begin play in 2020.

MLS has added a new franchise nearly every year since current defending champion Toronto FC played their first season in 2007. Over the last decade, the only seasons that didn't include an expansion side in action were 2013 and '16.
