The Portland Timbers have selected Duke University forward Jeremy Ebobisse in the 2017 MLS SuperDraft after sending the Houston Dynamo its 10th pick, an international roster spot, and $100,000 in General Allocation Money for the 4th overall pick.
The 19-year-old Paris-born U.S. Under-20 striker made 38 appearances over two seasons at Duke, scoring nine goals and recording seven assists in that time.
Ebobisse was projected to be drafted in the top three but fell down to fourth and, as such, the Timbers snapped at a deal. Luckily for Ebobisse, the Timbers are thin in their attacking ranks after Lucas Melano was loaned out.
As such, he'll have only Darren Mattocks and Fanendo Adi to compete with for a spot in Caleb Porter's roster.
