Welcome to Major League Soccer, Nicolas Lodeiro.
The Seattle Sounders' newest star scored his first MLS goal during a weekend fixture against Real Salt Lake, and what a goal it was.
Lodeiro was on the receiving end of an Andreas Ivanschitz pass from wide left, and his first-time shot was perfectly placed, smacking the top-left corner of the post and banging down past the line in the 24th minute of play.
As far as debut goals go, this was as good as any, and falls in line with Lodeiro's stated mission to pull the Sounders out of the Western Conference basement.
"I knew the situation I was walking into with the way the team had played," Lodeiro said, according to MLSsoccer.com. "But I’m also very happy to be a part of that change to turn this thing around and really give us some aspirations going forward."
