Watch: Lampard booed by NYCFC fans in season debut
Twitter/@goal
New York City FC midfielder Frank Lampard was in for a bit of a shock upon making his 2016 season debut against the New York Red Bulls. The former Chelsea man, ruled out for the opening 12 matches with a calf injury, was booed by his own fans when he replaced Andrea Pirlo in the second half.
Lampard was treated to a chorus of displeasure from his own supporters, made worse due to the resounding scoreline of an eventual 7-0 loss to their bitter rivals in the Hudson River Derby.
Being booed by your own fans is never fun, but at $6 million per year, something tells us Lampard won't mind too much.
