Watch: Nick Rimando channels inner Scott Sterling with face save
USA TODAY Sports / Russ Isabella
Real Salt Lake goalkeeper Nick Rimando channeled his inner Scott Sterling against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday night, making a huge save on a close-range shot by Andrew Wenger ... without his hands.
Wenger - who has a cannon for a leg - wound up for the shot, fired, and hit Rimando right in the face.
Sterling, if you recall, was the Yale goalkeeper who appeared in a viral-video skit by Studio C where he made five saves with his face during a penalty shoot-out.
Rimando's effort drew comparisons immediately, with the commentator even mentioning he has "seen this in one of those YouTube videos" before.
The instant replay showed every excruciating detail captured in HD perfection.
