Rangers extend qualifying offer to Gallardo
Joe Camporeale / USA TODAY Sports
The Texas Rangers extended right-hander Yovani Gallardo a one-year, $15.8-million qualifying offer prior to Friday's deadline.
Gallardo will have until Nov. 13 to decide whether or not to accept the deal or enter free agency. The Rangers would receive draft-pick compensation should he reject the deal and sign elsewhere.
The 29-year-old was one of the Rangers' most reliable starters last season, going 13-11 with a career-best 3.42 ERA across 184 1/3 innings. Gallardo has posted a winning record in six of his last seven seasons, while averaging 191 1/3 innings.
