The San Francisco Giants have made an offer to the Philadelphia Phillies for Chase Utley, but they're not the only suitors interested in the second baseman.

The Angels are also exploring the possibility of adding the six-time All-Star, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports.

Utley, who passed through waivers, is eligible to be traded to any ballclub, although he controls his destiny with his ability to veto any deal due to his 10-and-5 rights.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that Utley will choose between the Angels and Chicago Cubs, according to executives.

Johnny Giavotella has played every day at second base for the Angels. The Cubs have used four different players at the spot over the course of the season and will give Starlin Castro - normally a shortstop - his first shot at the position Friday against the Chicago White Sox.

The 36-year-old Utley is in the midst of a career-worst-season, sporting a .196/.266/.298 line with four home runs and 28 RBIs - although he is 7-for-17 since coming off the disabled list with an ankle injury.
