Mike Trout loves to hit on his birthday.
OK, he loves to hit all the time - but especially on his birthday. As the Los Angeles Angels took on the Baltimore Orioles on Friday, the reigning American League MVP stepped up to the plate for the first time as a 24-year-old.
In typical Trout fashion, he started it off with a bang.
That was in the bottom half of the first inning. In the top half, the young phenom - and the league's leader in home runs, with 33 - was greeted by a stadium-wide rendition of "Happy Birthday" from the home crowd.
With the birthday bomb, Trout became the first player in major-league history to hit three home runs on his birthday by the age of 24. He also went yard when he turned 21 and 22.
