The Chicago Cubs aren't paying Jon Lester $155 million for his skills at the dish.
Lester set a dubious major-league record Wednesday night by failing to get a hit in his first at-bat versus the Washington Nationals. His 58 at-bats without a hit to start a career broke a tie with Joey Hamilton of the San Diego Padres (1994-95).
The former American Leaguer also tied Hamilton for most plate appearances (66) without a hit to start a career by failing to get a knock in his second at-bat.
Additionally, Lester is 0-for-5 with two strikeouts in 14 postseason games.
The two-time World Series champion is getting it done on the mound, however, going 4-0 with a 1.85 ERA in five starts this month heading into play Wednesday.
