The Atlanta Braves entertained free-agent pitcher Jon Lester on Thursday, but the team did not make an offer to the left-hander, according to David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Braves president of baseball operations John Hart stated prior to the meeting that signing Lester would be a long shot, but he intended to keep all doors open.
Lester is arguably the best available arm on the free-agent market and is expected to land a multi-year deal north of $100 million.
The Boston Red Sox, Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago Cubs are among the other teams trying to land Lester.
