San Francisco Giants scout Stan Saleski died unexpectedly last Saturday in Baltimore, the team announced Friday.

He was 59.

Saleski had been with the club since 1998 and was actively scouting at the time of his passing. The team did not reveal the cause of the death.

Giants general manager Brian Sabean released the following statement:

"Stan was a longtime friend and an integral part of our organization. Our entire Giants family is mourning his loss and Stan will be deeply missed by all of us who had the pleasure and privilege to know him."

Saleski spent more than 30 years as a professional scout for the Miami (formerly Florida) Marlins, New York Yankees, and Giants.
