The New York Yankees and Brian Cashman agreed to a new contract that will see the longtime general manager return for a 30th season.

"We're locked and loaded," Cashman said Wednesday during the team's season-ending press conference, according to Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

The 59-year-old executive's contract was set to expire at the conclusion of the season before reaching a new pact.

Cashman has led the Yankees to four World Series titles (1998, 1999, 2000, 2009). However, the team's current 17-year drought between championships is the second-longest in franchise history.

Yankees owner Hal Steinbrenner also backed Cashman and manager Aaron Boone on Wednesday, blaming the players after the club was swept in the ALDS.

New York has won 15 AL East titles and gone 29 straight seasons without a losing record under Cashman's guidance.
