Blue Jays' Lawrie leaves in fourth inning vs. Orioles with back tightness
Brett Lawrie's long-awaited return to the Toronto Blue Jays lineup lasted all of three innings, as the third baseman, who had been out since June 22 due to a fractured finger, was pulled from Tuesday's game due to back tightness.
According to Sportsnet's Shi Davidi, the team is saying the move was precautionary.
Lawrie singled in his only at-bat of the game, but stumbled as he rounded first base, which may have been either the result of or the cause of his discomfort.
He was replaced at third base by Danny Valencia, who promptly botched a ground ball and allowed a run to score.
