The Houston Astros selected Virginia outfielder Derek Fisher with the 37th pick of the 2014 First-Year Player Draft on Thursday night.
Fisher was previously drafted in the sixth round by Texas in 2011 before turning down an offer so he could attend Virginia, where he hit .289/.379/.479 over three seasons.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound left-handed hitter projects to have above-average offensive abilities at the major league level, according to scouts. Considered one of the best college athletes in the draft, Fisher led the Cape Cod League last summer with a .453 on-base percentage.
