In the bottom of the third inning in Saturday's game against the Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria took Ivan Nova deep to left field for his second round-tripper of the season.
On top of giving the Rays a 4-0 lead, the home run gave Longoria 164 for his career, all of them coming with Tampa Bay. That nudged him past Carlos Pena for the franchise record.
The Rays, of course, are only 17 years old, so that total isn't exactly eye-popping. But you can probably expect Longoria, who is averaging 27 homers a year in his career and signed a six-year extension with the club before last season, to hold onto that distinction for a long time.
